Workshop: Create a One-Color Portrait in a Day | Adults

“A creative and relaxing day where you’ll learn to create a powerful portrait using acrylic and pencil – all in just one color.”

About the workshop
During this workshop, you’ll work on creating a portrait that speaks through simplicity and the power of color. You will learn how to set up a strong foundation using a grid, and how to add depth, character, and emotion to your work with just one color.

Before the workshop, I ask that you bring a clear, printed A4 photo of someone you’d like to portrait – it could be a loved one, a friend, a famous person, or simply a face that resonates with you. You will also choose a color that holds personal meaning or just feels right to you – that will set the tone for your portrait.

All materials are provided: sturdy paper, acrylic paint, pencils, erasers, and rulers. However, feel free to bring your own favorite tools if you prefer – anything goes, nothing is mandatory.

A day filled with inspiration, focus, and fun – and you’ll leave with a personal piece of art that you can be proud of.

For whom?
Groups of 10 to 15 people.
Suitable for both beginners and advanced (young) adults.
The workshop can be booked for academies, retreats, team-building events, friend groups, or other gatherings.

Duration
3.5 hours (including a break)

Location
On-site (with sufficient tables and chairs)

Price
Starting at €450 per group
(Including material costs, excluding travel expenses)

I will ensure a pleasant atmosphere, snacks and drinks, and of course plenty of space to create, discover, and share.

At the end of the day, you’ll take home a self-made, meaningful portrait – and the inspiration and tools to continue creating on your own.

Malu Bekker

I am Malu, and since 2019 I have officially been an entrepreneur, but in reality, it all started long before that. From a young age, I have been passionate about fashion (designing), painting, illustrating, and later also animating.

In 2021, I graduated Cum Laude from the Illustrated and Animated Storytelling program at AKV St. Joost in Den Bosch. Today, I work as a freelance illustrator and animator for various (social) organizations such as the Salvation Army and the Red Cross.

In addition to freelancing, I create paintings to give expression to everything that happens internally within myself and/or others. Images capture what words sometimes fail to express.

With this workshop, I hope to offer people the foundations of how to create a powerful portrait using acrylic paint.
