Hi there, Malu here!
I’m Malu Bekker (1997), a creative, socially engaged maker who loves exploring new places, stories, and perspectives. My work focuses on visualizing identity – always starting from a personal point of view.
I’m curious about what drives people: what do we show, what do we feel, and why do we do what we do? I aim to create work that resonates – images that open something up, invite reflection, and inspire.
My style is defined by bold colors, rich textures, and experimental storytelling forms. I see every project as a chance to translate a story into visuals in an honest and surprising way.
Through workshops and courses, I support both adults and young people in finding their own visual voice. I guide them in (portrait) concept development and creative techniques – so that you can tell your story, in your way.

Malu approached us for a collaboration to enhance our product with a beautiful illustration that would capture the essence of Buurtkadoos. We gave the task of creating an image in which we would ‘capture’ each city, with a local character that depicted an average neighborhood as a cohesive whole. We wanted an illustration that would touch people, make them smile, and one that everyone could relate to. We are extremely happy with the work delivered; it is full of expression and dynamism, and has captured exactly what we were looking for. Our product has become more complete thanks to this unique illustration by Malu.
